I need help building a vr capable desktop computer. I have a rough budget of $1200 american. I will need everything. From cpu to gpu. From keyboard and mouse to os. I am just so overwhelmed with trying to figure this out. I just want an awesome computer that will rock any vr game I play on it. Also I will be using the htc vive or the oculus rift. I don't know if that matters on which I choose if the type of computer has to be different to run either. Please help me. Thank you all.

Just to be clear do you need a monitor as well, and do you already have your oculus rift/htc vive? Also do you plan to stream or is it for pure gaming?

Pros:
1. Only slightly overbudget
2.Overclocking capabilities
3.8GB card and 16GB of RAM

Cons:
1.The mouse is pretty basic and kinda of meh
2.No SSD
3.The case is rather cheap and uses plexi-glass not tempered glass.

This system should be capable of VR, as it will run better than this system:

As for your VR headsets, there prices cannot be included in the budget for just the PC and if you plan to use both, you will have to use 1 at a time or build a second PC.

As for windows, you can get it pretty cheap off Kinguin (like $30)or just use windows 10 for free and ignore the watermark that will be in the bottom right.

I was just using the video for reference. The PC in the video a pretty s*** setup so I was just pointing out that your PC should be able to handle VR without a hic-up. The video PC is using an old Piledriver AMD CPU, a 480, only 8GB of RAM, and only a 500GB HDD. The meant to be a super budget VR machine, and your will run much better.

Yes they are both compatible, and just need 3.0 USB ports and the Vive also uses HDMI with your GPU. You can compare them through some simple research on the web and videos. The motherboard has 4x2.0 USB ports and your GPU will have the HDMI port. If you plan to record or stream I would go with the posted Ryzen build, but for the best pure gaming performance stick to Intel.
