Can't eject external hard drive

I can't eject my external hard drive. I keep getting the error "problem ejecting USB attached SCSI mass storage device". I restarted my computer and checked if any programs were in use, but nothing works. Any solutions to this problem?

If you’re the unlucky person that it damages the drive from unplugging. I maybe would avoid sharp objects and public transportation for a week lol. That’s some bad luck. But no. Shouldn’t damage it. I believe Linus actually has a video on this subject. Either on main channel or tech quickie.
