Hello Ltt Forums.

My graphic card started acting out the other day - and before rushing out to buy a new one i thought i might give it one last chance.

So during a pretty heavy workload assignment in reality capture my pc died and after turning it back on i saw these horizontal blue lines all over my screen like in the picture. These blue lines jump around when i use the computer and mouse.

When i start my computer the windows logo appear as normal with no lines or anything - just before going to the login screen the screen turns of for 10-15 seconds and then turns back on with a terrible low resolution and blue lines all across the screen. The blue lines does not appear if i take a screenshot. I am no longer able to open my nvidia drivers and my card does no longer show up in MSI afterburner. Going into my device manager i can see that it recognizes my 780 ti but shows an error.

So far ive tried the following - New cables - Another screen - Uninstalling driver with DDU and installing new drivers again - Full windows reinstall - resetting cmos - updating MB bios.

No luck so far ! plugging in an old GPU everything works fine - so its not the screen, cable or anything like that. Ive also checked my PSU in bios and i am getting a solid 12.1 volts with no fluctuation.

The blue lines appear on my second monitor as well - doesn't matter if i connect via DisplayPort - DVI or HDMI.

Its a "fairly" new card - meaning that it was replaced by EVGA in and RMA roughly 6 months ago - but since my original purchase was a long time ago there is no longer any warranty. I have also tried contacting EVGA but without any luck.

So now what do i do ? Does anyone any idea if the card is completely dead or what might be going on here ? Card is in pristine condition - looks like the day i unpacked it ! There are no visual damage to the PCB either as far as i can see with the cooler still on.

Is the last step to put the fucker in the oven and hope for the best ? Or is there anything else i can try before i burn the house down ?

Thanks in advance

That's called gpu artifacts, most likely the vrams is failing.

Maybe try underclocking it?

EVGA wanted me to try and underclock it as well - but if it doesnt show up in either PrecisionX or MSI afterburner and i cannot acces my nvidia driver for debug mode - then how do i go about this ?

Sounds like the memory chips are dieing. Very likely a bad card.

So its the chip and not the soldering around it ? meaning that even an oven bake would be successful it would have no effect ?

I see, sorry but i don't have any knowledge of underclocking it other than those two programs. Maybe make a new thread about it, I'm sure there's someway to do this.

You could try oven baked, or try a biosflah of the GPU if you wanna try some long shots. I have seen this fixed by biosflah but it's rare and if done wrong you kill the card. Once the lines start appearing you basically are in the end of life of the vram.
