Hey,

I currently have a Samsung 850 Evo 500GB, I have the chance to switch it for a Crucial MX500 500GB M.2.

I'm finding conflicting reviews on performance, is it worth the switch?

I wouldn't do it. The Crucial is working on SATA so you will not get any speed benefits from the samsung (at least not noticable differences)

If your motherboard supports it, I'd go for an NVME drive instead. That would be an improvement over your samsung drive!
