Laptop not detecting SSD

Go to solution Solved by deadbc77,

I just installed a msata ssd in my Y580.(2hrs ago) It didn't see it till i put the OS disk in, and rebooted a couple times.

Hay guys i recently took out my hard drive from my laptop and installed a SSD. However my laptop (Lenovo Mini 10) did not detect my ssd :( but my desktop is able to detect my ssd. I have tried formatting the ssd and resetting my laptop bios but nothing is working. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Is the ssd a mini-pcie interface?

Nope just a normal sata

Try updating the bios on the laptop. Also check for a newer firmare on the ssd and upgrade.

Older BIOSes may not recognize SSds

Also make sure the sata interface is set to AHCI.

SSD firmware is updated as well as the bios. There hasnt been a driver update for this laptop since 2010.

It just says "Media test failure check cable"

"Operating system not found"

Does it work with the original hard drive in the system? If so the bios is not set up by the oem to boot off of SSDs.
