so i have a corsair aio not exactly sure which one

on my last aio i could change the pump speed and fan speed separate in link but on this one it doesnt have that usb input

anyway i was wondering how important the air flow is because im using an x99 deluxe and i have the pump and fans plugged into the cpu fan slot. i use the bios now to control the fan speed obviously now since i cant use link and im tired of the fans switching between high and low constantly if im playing a game thats just on the edge of my temp setting between low and high.

so i was thinking ill leave the pump in the cpu slot and set it to max since i cant even hear the pump anyway, and plugging in the radiator fans into another fan pin slot at a static speed.

good or bad idea?

As long as your temps are fine, there's no need to worry.

If you want fans to stop ramping up and down, set a custom fan curve. It can take a bit of testing to find what sounds good.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

You have it down, you should be fine but I WOULD NOT DROP BELOW 50%, at least without testing, take your most intensive workload and test it on different fan speeds, set your speed at the one that keeps temp below a safe standard. NOTE what WoodenMarker mentioned about a fan curve is optimal it takes more work and testing, up to you which you decide on doing.

thanks guys maybe ill mess with the curve a bit more. it would help if i could add more than 3 settings.

You can get third party fan controll software but compatibility and complexity are issues, ease of use is a foreign concept here. Try software from your hardware manufacturers first if you try any.
