Are HP digitisers universal?

I have cracked the touch digitiser on my HP laptop 15-ae146tx and I was wondering if I bought a digitiser for an envy 360 or an m6 or whatever, whether it will work. They look pretty similar, so I can't find a reason why it wouldn't. The LCD is fine and doesn't need replacing. Please don't comment 'you might not be able to fit it'. I want you to answer just the question I am asking. Thanks.
Does it make any difference if the digitiser is for a laptop with an LCD of different resolution?
