My question is how do other streamers have great quality with microphones like the Blue Yeti, AT2020 USB+/XLR and Rode NT USB. All the condenser microphones which almost picks up everything in the background. Does a popfilter with a shockmount and attaching the microphone to the Rode PSA1 while keeping the microphone close to your mouth helps? I'm taking a big step and I'm really confused between Dynamic/Condenser, with the decision to which one to buy? Because I'd be spending around 727$ just to get a good dynamic microphone kit and only 210$ total for the USB+ version of AT2020. Streamers like Daequan, Pokimane, Myth and Ninja gets away with good quality stream while using condenser microphone. I know that room is also a factor but my room is pretty small (12x8) and I don't think so echo will be a problem and my house majority wise silence. So, should I just go and buy a dynamic microphone and be with it or get myself an AT2020 USB+ and tweak some settings for it and save 500$?

Acoustic foams?

I've seen people use acoustic foam panels on the walls around their recording setups, but a simple pop filter on my headset microphone works best for me. Unfortinately I don't know much else about higher-end audio.

Coming from a small streamer:

YOU DON'T NEED AN EXPENSIVE MIC

YOU NEED PLUGINS

(Step by step below)

if you use OBS, open it and go to your Mixer

Click the gear cog next to the audio device for your microphone (Probably labeled "Mic/Aux")

Click Filters

Click the plus at the bottom, and add these three in this order : Noise Gate, Noise Suppression, Compressor

Try the default settings for all three and record yourself through OBS. Listen back to it and change settings as needed.

I can explain what all of these do as well if needed.

audio is a beast the size of the room, mic length from mouth, and input device IE (stock mic pc input or mid high range audio card) all play a roll in the quality. and if you are thinking about buying a higher range mic you need to look at all the aspects of audio and quality.

if at first you don't break it you must have followed the directions

With that said, you want at least a decent mic, So an AT2020-USB or the Rode podcaster are really good places to start.

Yes, so having a Noise gate, suppression and compressor is the same way other streamers stream?

I can see that and I know about quality audio a bit now and 727$ microphone kit I was talking about is SM7B. Which Shroud(Streamer) also uses with CDNTHE3RD But I'm getting it because they have it. My main question streamers like Pokimance who have a big ass room with no acoustic foam how do they get away with it? Like they all using noise gate, suppression and compressor?

You just need to have the mic close to your mouth with the gain turned down.

Also live in a place with little background noise and good audio insulation.

The pop filter is to prevent pops from the mic being so close to your mouth.

The arm is to move it closer to your mouth and off of the desk.

There's also a vibration mount usually, that prevents the mic from picking up you banging on your desk when you lose at fortnite.

Yes you are talking about shockmount. So, my question now is that should I put acoustic foam in my room for good audio? I know that acoustic foam do not soundproof a room but does it make any better?

So the closer the mic is to your mouth, the lower your mic gain can be and the less echo the mic will pick up.

The trick is:

Up your noise gate threshold until it doesn't pick up your keyboard, but picks up your voice.

Set Noise suppression around -30, but it depends on your Noise gate threshold,

Set your compressor around this: https://gyazo.com/a44730272bebfb53a4b348f27d7c0356 , then adjust to your liking.

Also use a standard gain boost to add about 1/5 of your noise suppression back.

Yes Acoustic foam will reduce echo.

Honestly though just throwing blankets and pillows in the room can have the same effect if it's a carpeted floor. Mattresses, clothes, and anything fabric will help deaden echo.

Only if you notice echo.

Other than reducing audio reflections, the foam does nothing.

Which application do you recommend for putting or executing out these settings? And should I go with an XLR AT2020/2035 or USB+ 2020AT?

Whenever I sit in my room, I use to record with a small standing desk microphone and I wouldn't hear a single echo cause my room is small (12x8).

Unless your room is echoing like crazy, you don't need acoustic treatment of the room for podcasting. If you plan to buy SM7B you don't need shockmount as it's internal shockmount is more than enough in most cases. It is also rather gain hungry microphone so you will not have issues with background noises, but it might be too quiet depending on a preamp which you will use. SM7B is the standard for broadcasting for reason. If you have money, go for it, it is IMHO the best choice for podcasting.

OBS has built in filters when you hit the plus button. If you can't seem to find them, download the reaPLUGS VSTs from this link: https://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/

Just hit add filter, then VST 2.x, then add the filters you want.

(You can add them all inside of OBS. While you can add them in a program like VoiceMeeter Banana, I don't recommend it as it adds extra complication to your setup.)
