What voltage should I use? 8700k @4.8ghz

So I have my 8700k at 4.8ghz on 1.320 voltage. It works fine but I’m wondering if i should reduce it to something lower then that number.

less voltage is always better, so yes, as low as you can while maintaining stability at 4.8ghz

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

you may wanna try setting it lower and lower 1 step at a time and do a quick stability test in between till you crash -> up it by 1-2 notches at that point and call it a day :D

I found when overclocking my 8700k, running RealBench stresstest for 15min wasd a good indicator of stable voltage before doing a much longer stress test.

I got;

4.7 @ 1.2v

4.8 @ 1.225v

and currently running 5 @ 1.315v

CPU ~ i7 8700k @ 5.0ghz 1.285v | Motherboard ~ Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 5 | Cooler ~ CoolerMaster ML360R (With Corsair ML120 fans)

RAM ~ 16gb G.Skill Sniper X 3000mhz | GPU ~ Nvidia RTX 2080 FE | PSU ~ Corsair RM1000x | Case ~ CoolerMaster MB500

Ok so I’m now running at 4.8ghz @1.260v without any problems.

Should I try going to 4.9ghz or even 5ghz? I have the kraken x62 AIO cooler and the Asus rog strix 370-f mobo

The only thing that’s keeping me from not overclocking to 5ghz is the temps. Right now I’m staying around 33-77 Celsius with 4.8ghz @ 1.260v

Try and lower your voltage as much as you can and run Realbench for 2 hours to see it's stability.

This is old photo but im doing 5.0Ghz @ 1.200 V now

With my room ambient at 30-35 normally.

Is that all 6 cores at 5.0?  IF so, damn nice voltage.

Is there really that big of a difference between 4.8ghz and 5ghz when it comes to basic video editing and gaming?
