An Imac from late 2012. The heat vents were a bit dusty though and the surface is really hot (it burns). I cleaned it up, still a bit hot. Is over heating the problem or is it something else...

Very unlikely to be overheating, you can check though. Put a ssd in it if you want faster though. You need the temp sensors override for the drive though.
