Good Evening. i am in the market for a new video card for my PC. the specs i currently have are as follows.

CPU: AMD FX -8150 Eight-Core 3.90GHz

Ram: 16 gigs genaric

GPU: ASUS/AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series

I currently run Windows 7 because when windows 10 came out there was no drivers for this card that supported windows 10.

also my wife's laptop video card just crapped out as she is a photographer and does a lot of editing, an i play games nothing over clock worthy but will need something that can take abuse from the photo editing.  What would people recomend in the $400 - $600 price range.

photo editing is mostly CPU related as long as there's a GPU that's not complete garbage in computing (Geforce 210 level). Your 7850/7870 will do, I'm more concered about the FX CPU there since the single core performance is rather poor.

I had a secondary pc with i5 2500 and Radeon 6850 on win 10 running fine

if you have been using that PC , GTX1060 / RX580 will be a huge jump
