HDMI problem

Recently I built a pc and hooked it up to my monitor. A dell u2518d. Everything was working fine until I got this problem where it has a hdmi input but then a black screen. Sometimes it goes to windows. the monitor uses a mdp able so I bought a mdp to dp adapter and plugged it into the gpu and plugged my hdmi to hdmi cable into the gpu as well. There also is a usb 3.0 cable that I plugged in. My mobo doesn't have an hdmi port

My oc specs are:

gtx 1050 

msi z370 a pro

120gb ssd

1tb hdd

8gb rami5 8600

You have to put all  thise cables into your gpi, not in the MB. And why do you connect 2 display cables, and try to view using HDMI when you got a dp adapter?

My gpu doesn't have a usb 3.0 port, Sorry I'm very new to pc building this was my first pc
