Congratulations. Second link is just direct link from the same article.

And now you really fixed problem, so next time you'll know a solution while others will always reinstalling windows. :)

I thought that I fixed it but after clicking New Folder it still made a shortcut even though the button was with a folder icon and name. After a 4 hours searching on the internet, looking at every single page and trying some shady russian programs I found THIS !

Hello,

I recently discovered that I cant create new folder. There is no such option in the context menu. I tried all the fixes on the internet with the registry but that didnt help. In stead of a new icon I have 2 shortcut options as you can see in the attached screen. When i click Ctrl + Shift + N it creates New shortcutFolder file. 2.JPG.4d376074553e961573ecf853ff60ed1a.JPG that is basically a shortcut.

Sounds like a user profile issue. Have you checked your hard disk is OK? (use crystaldiskinfo) then run an sfc /scannow command to check system files.

If all OK, try to make a new user profile and test if that one works.

Probably gaming or helping technophobes with tech...

Both my disks are perfect, made a sfc scan and didnt help, and tried the new user that also didnt help. The New in the context menu stayed the same ;(

This should help.

One problem = one solution. No need to repair everything if there is one small problem.

Already tried that I found different types of fixes with registry but didnt help. There are ready .reg files for all the "New" menu but neither do help

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

@wonderlust: Wait a moment.

It's not a good reason to reinstall whole system.

I created 3 reg files for you:

http://www.files.xs.com.pl/registry.zip

Try to run them / insert into registry and restart computer.

They're from my win10 and they are related to that original registry key. If something was wrong - it should fix it.

Win10 64bit of course.

Looks the same for me. I'm using different registry editor - that's why you don't see that "InProcServer32" in right pane. But you see it in left pane - and that's all you need. Look inside and compare to second png. If it's the same then I cannot help you right now (I must go for some time). But for sure there is better way to fix that without reinstalling Windows.

Last I found: https://www.askvg.com/how-to-restore-missing-new-menuitem-in-desktop-and-explorer-context-menu/

But from this point I have no idea what to do next. This link gives some more information and a little better registry fix.

Really big registry entry (lot of entries in fact). Good, keep it for the future in some directory like "win fixes". It may be useful in the future.

Sorry that my method was not as good.
