Mixing RAM Sticks
Go to solution
Solved by Guest,
you can mix and match just about anything, same voltage and same clock speed is ideal but neither is necessary
if you have 1.5v ram, the ram you get will likely volt up to 1.5v, but it also might not, its a little hit or miss
ive got a 8gb 1600mhz ddr3 stick mixed with a 4gb 1866mhz stick, one 1.35v and one 1.5v and they both now function as 1.35v 1866mhz
SOMEHOW
i have no idea how but it works
brand and latency wont matter, and if you dont have XMP, the ram will operate at the speed of the lower frequency module
you can probably find ram elsewhere cheaper, local craigslist ads and all that
but heres an 8gb stick of 1600mhz 1.5v ddr3
