Best ITX non clockable motherboard?

Hey guys, gals and pals,

I’m building a new pc, my first build and to be honest I’m not interested in overclocking. From what I’ve read, the risks out weigh the *tiny* amount of advantages it gives. That being said, this is my build so far -

Little bit more expensive than what I want, ideally I’d like to keep it around $2,000 but I’m planning on holding out for deals/Black Friday/sales. I’d be using this for gaming, highest settings I can get. I know I said no overclocking and I still stand by that, I’m sure my set up will run everything fine but I don’t know too much about it to be sure. I don’t drink and I’m trying to quit smoking so this pc will be my happy place ya know, I want the best I can get.

So, how does it look?

I'd go for an 8700K if you're planning on waiting until Black Friday anyway.

Other than that, it looks pretty decent.

Why the 7700K over the 8700K for basically the same price?

What risks with overclocking? If you don't crank the voltage up to like 1.5 or beyond then you're pretty safe for the most part and it's basically a free performance boost. I would argue you take more risks using an AIO to cool your CPU than you do overclocking it.

Edit:

Not saying "You must overclock!!!1!" but don't write it off completely although as a first time builder I wouldn't suggest jumping right in at the start :)

Is this mainly for gaming?

  • 7700k is now getting close to 2 generations outdated. If you don't want to overclock, an 8700 would be much faster and cost a similar amount. If you're waiting until black friday anyways, intel 9th gen might be out by then so you should look for that.
  • If you don't want to OC a much cheaper cooler like the H7 would be fine.
  • 3000 MHz RAM is a waste of money as only Z series boards support more than 2666 MHz RAM
  • If it's just for gaming a 960 evo is a waste of money. You could save $100 and get an MX500 instead
  • PSU is pretty overkill wattage wise. A 650w would be fine

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

You could still save a ton of money on cooler and SSD. And PSU is still overkill IMO

Changed our the PSU to 650, want the SSD for the speed and a 1TB will handle enough storage I’ll need for steam and the 4TB for all of the backup/movies I have.

As for the overclocking, I want to get something stable first before trying it, seeing if it makes a difference, if it does I’ll keep it if not then I’ll stop, pretty simple.

I’d also like to note that I changed the SSD to a Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5”
