Ram upgrade suggestions

Will it work at the advertised speed? I recall getting a ram which I linked above - that only one stick would work at a time - and half would go into hardware reserve. Might've been because there wasnt much support for it at the time, but ended up refunding it and getting the 2400mhz I have at the moment.

I am 99% positive it will work at 3200MHz. The kit itself isn't on the QVL, but there are other G.SKILL Samsung b-die kits on the list. I imagine the worst thing that will happen is you can't get 3200MHz running and might have to settle for 3000MHz. But that kit is £50 less than a G.SKILL Samsung b-die kit.

As the title suggests - I am wanting to upgrade my ram. I have read that ryzen benefits greatly from fast ram - so I am in need of an upgrade.

The ram I have at the moment: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb-(2x8gb)-corsair-ddr4-vengeance-lpx-black-pc4-19200-(2400)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-14-16-16-31-xm

I was recommended this ram the last time I was on here: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/p6RFf7/corsair-memory-cmk16gx4m2b3200c16 when I was asking for a gpu recommendation - its been awhile since then and have now got some spare money. So would this ram be compatible with my board and if so - is there any other cheaper alternatives that I should look at? I would check the QVL but for some reason it comes up with an error saying it cannot be reached.

Thanks in advance.

How much money are you looking to spend?

Ideally, you want to buy the fastest/lowest timing Samsung b-die kit you can find. You won't be guaranteed to run at its advertised speed if you buy a kit rated beyond 3600MHz, but it will usually mean you're getting the better binned b-die kits.

Awww man that gives you tons of options for 2x8GB kits at 3200MHz. Heck you could get a Corsair Dominator Platinum kit for 205 GBP.

Edit:

Ok I just the pcpartpicker page has the CAS latency wrong. That kit is probably a Hynix kit so it's overpriced in that regard.

This kit is potentially a Samsung b-die kit as reported by past purchasers.

Must admit - I have no idea what the hynix and samsung b-dies are. I just need some ram that will be compatible with my mobo. I recall buying some with the mobo and it didnt work with both plugged in. It was this kit here : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015FY8G6U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If possible - can you add the ram you recommend to the partpicker list i added above? Just so I can save the link and not pick the wrong one in the list x)

Done. I selected the one that was black and grey. There is a black and red kit also.

Also, you can probably find a Windows 10 Pro license key on eBay. I actually purchased two of them that way. They were $10 each.  Used that savings and purchase the Asus Strix X470 board instead of the X370.

Need you to send the partpicker link x) also - I already have windows home on a usb with a cd key so no need for that. I already have the system btw - just that I am wanting to upgrade my ram as I had to cut back and save money on the ram due to budget. Plus - X470 wasnt out when I got the 370 x)

Edit: can you tell me if you can access the QVL for the x370? link is here - https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-X370-F-GAMING/HelpDesk_QVL/

Ahhh gotcha. I will check the QVL but I can tell you that it won't matter if it isn't on there. It's one of the reasons people prefer Samsung b-die because it works best with Ryzen systems.

And I edited that list in your OP. Did it save? Lemme check.

Will it work at the advertised speed? I recall getting a ram which I linked above - that only one stick would work at a time - and half would go into hardware reserve. Might've been because there wasnt much support for it at the time, but ended up refunding it and getting the 2400mhz I have at the moment. I'm also guessing that it's Samsung B-Die - Also, will probably use whichever - due to my build is blue atm.

I am pretty confident you will be able to run that kit by simply selecting the DOCP profile in BIOS, but if you have any problems increase the DRAM voltage a little and change the SOC voltage to 1.1V (that is what AMD recommends for "overclocked" RAM).

Alright - I have only OC'd my cpu - and thats very minor - just put in 37 in the multiplier and volts to 1.3 - which I put to 1.325 and LLC lvl 3. So no idea how to dram voltages but guess I shall find out. Also - is this ram on amazon or scan? Just find it easier to order from those sites.
