Phone issues

Recently I upgraded my iphone 5s to a Samsung galaxy s9. Since I upgraded they have the same number but somehow I can't receive texts on my new phone. I can text and call from it but once someone tries to call or text me, it goes to my 5s. (I also switched carriers) How do i fix this so I don't have to carry 2 phones?

You sure they're text messages and not iMessage?

I text them from my s9 on the messenger then when they text me back from that message it goes to my 5s. I use verizon. Should I use their messenger instead of the samsung one?

The thing is that they might still be using iMessage rather than sending them as actual text messages. On your 5S, is the messages still appearing in a blue bubble. If so, they're still on iMessage. If it's a green bubble, then it's a text message.

Are the messages you recieve on the 5S green or blue?

On my 5s i can't see my messages from my s9.

Ah right, that's only on your side. This might help you. I still suspect that your friends are still sending message to you via iMessage rather than SMS.
