Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any information or updates on the Instagram hacking from the .ru domain. My girlfriends account was taken over, username changed, email changed. Instagram doesn't seem to care that thousands of accounts were compromised, and with no way to contact them most people are stuck.

Also as a side note their guides on how to help is laughable, here's the link for their site, https://help.instagram.com/368191326593075

If you got hacked, most likely your computer is infected with malware that stole your account credentials and sent it to the hackers. You should probably be worried about that first.

Then contact support and see if you can get your account back. Make sure you use two factor authentication on all your accounts.

My account wasn't hacked, my girl friends was. 2 Factor authentication was enabled, but if you look it up thousands of accounts were hacked from Russia with or without 2 factor enabled they were able to bypass it all. Also she doesn't use Instagram on her PC, only her phone, but in any case its not malware. It was a breach on Instagrams side.

Also, instagram does not have a support contact they rely on guides that they post which are not helpful. My biggest concern is that Instagram/ Facebook obviously has a huge breach that they are not addressing or fixing.

I needed help with a business Instagram account. I messaged them and left voicemails. Nothing. Our account took a year to get fixed and only because a software update fixed it.

It's shocking how little support Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google and the other socials have.

I completely agree, the guide for hacked accounts says to try to reset your password then says "Note: If you think your username or email was changed as a result of your account being hacked, you can try these steps again using both your username and email." but give you no other options if both email and username have been changed, and no proper way to contact.
