AMD vs Intel

Hi, for a budget oriented build, with no graphics card but planning to upgrade to one in about a years time, which would be a better CPU for gaming now and into the future: An AMD A10 5800k, or an Intel i5 4670K.

 

It will be used to play modern games, and will upgrade with a graphics card eg 270x? at a later date.

Which of these/ which alternative would you choose?

The 4670k is obviously better while also being twice as expensive.

Well that depends on the budget. What is it?

What are the other specs of the machine? More importantly, what GPU is being paired with these?

It will be running with 8gb of ram, and no dedicated GPU to begin with, but hopefully a 270/270x in a few months time.

How many times better is the CPU for CPU heavy tasks eg encoding?

Around £450, for everything but peripherals, I was just wondering if it would be worth saving up for a bit longer and getting the i5

yeah, easily. you only miss out on the gpu side, but since your getting a 270x soon, that wont be much of an issue.

Quite better for cpu reliant encoding although most cpu encoding tasks are quite light or inefficient for the money compared to gpu accelerated encoding anyway.

I'd get a cheaper cpu like the 750K/760K/6300 and get a better graphics card later or one sooner.
