This is a RePost from "Hybrid Drives" I feel it should be here since we finished the subject over there.

Dell Dimension E510:

MotherBoard: RD203

CPU: Intel Pentium D 945 ( 3.4GHZ Dual Core, 2 Thread, 800Mhz Bus Speed )

RAM: 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) 2Rx4 240-Pin 1.8V ECC FBDIMM Fully Buffered Memory by NEMIX RAM

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2 TB Internal HDD - 3.5" - ST2000DM006 - SATA 6Gb/s - 7,200 rpm

Case: Dell Dimension E510

Power Supply: 305W

Now as a first-timer, will all of this stuff together work and make an old but decently powerful gaming PC?

Decently powerful by what metric? What exactly do you intend to play on this?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

Well, you might be able to launch half of these titles. As for playing any games, good luck with any of that. While compatible, these parts are trash for a gaming PC.

Either post a WTB (want to buy) in the classifieds:

 https://linustechtips.com/main/forum/89-classifieds/

or use something off Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Vostro-Desktop-Computer-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B07G6RDZ1N/ref=sr_1_29?ie=UTF8&qid=1534994343&sr=8-29&keywords=refurbished+PC+core+i5+6400

the amazon link might be a little rich for your blood but it's very upgradeable, and I recommend not locking yourself onto an old platform with a shoestring budget. It's money well spent.

edit: this might be good too. Still old, but leagues better than what you wanted to put together.
