hi im looking at replacing my sli 980tis with a new card, 1080ti performs the same if not worse in the games i play so im wondering if there are any benches or anything that show how the rtx cards are doing out side of ray tracing, i want to drop sli and go single card but also want a performance increase ( haha i know greedy af) 
thoughts on a 2080 outperforming 980tis, and im also playing a few games that dont even support sli atm which is  gaids ( gamer aids) 
i have no doubty a 2080ti will outperform them in sli by a long way but its so spensive

Nobody knows yet, but the specs say it should.  Benchmarks should be out shortly.

Aside from just Ray Tracing and AI Tensor cores implementation, you have few extra CUDA cores, a faster video buffer on a wide bus, higher count TMUs, which will all alone bring better performance than its predecessors, not  in a huge scale compared to the prices. Games supporting RAY TRACING in their render methods is to be expected to gain massive improvement compared to the predecessors.

 

However, we have to wait for the reviews to come out and see in the real world, rather than just assuming theoretically.
