This all depends on use case.

 

Generally a lot of people use a 256/512 GB SSD with a seperate HDD for bulk storage (games etc)

 

However it depends on A) how much you want to spend and B) what you need it for

 

from my experience (i think theres a video LTT did that had some benchmarks) game load times are impacted but minimally imo, Not justifiable of the extra cost at least.

 

If you have a lot of Disk IO heavy use cases, then SSDs can be beneficial.

 

Id personally never go for anything less than 500gb for a boot drive, then seperate storage options for general Data, but thats just me, i tend to find i fill 256gb quite quickly even if most of my data is dumped on seperate drives.
