Hi, so I'm potentially getting into college so I'm looking into getting a new laptop, and also because my old Intel Atom laptop is so damn slow that I want some more power from a laptop. This laptop will be used purely for internet usage and study material with a lot of multi-tasking, with no gaming.

I'm looking for a laptop that has the following:
• Under £600

• 11"-14" 1080p screen (Display panel doesn't matter)
• Battery life >5 hours

• Thin & light - think Asus ZenBook & MacBook Air

• Skylake Core i3 or better

• 128GB+ SSD storage

• 4GB+ RAM

Things that aren't needed but would be nice:

• 1x+ USB Type-C

• Backlit keyboard

• Comes in white or gold color

If you can find a store near you that demos it, I'd take a look at the surface go.

You don't need to buy local but it's a good idea imo to see it in person, since the form factor is important to you.

Alternatively look on amazon for i3 6000/7000 series dell inspirons.  If you want a good thin laptop like zenbook or macbook air it may be tough on your budget unless you go used.

Not a fan of 2-in-1s, I probably should've specified that.

I like the idea of a Surface Go, it's a cool one for the price.

I like the surface lineup (for what it is, not for everyone).  Don't use my SP3 nearly as much anymore but in school it was nice.  As long as you don't mind the limited storage, the form factor and battery life are really nice.  And the Go is even lighter/faster than what I had most likely.

If you want something that's a more traditional laptop, ideapad (can't think of specific model) has cheap i3 options also.  Again, you may want to take a trip and look at some.

Coincidentally I already have an Asus S410UA-BV050T variant of that laptop in my Amazon wishlist with a 7100U, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD, all for £379.97.

The S410UA-BV134T version has an 8250U, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, but sets me back £649.99.

Choices, oh, choices.

Amazon is my preferred online store. Max weight, less than 2kg, I suppose.
