I wouldn't even waste my time with dual core CPUs these days unless you're only doing office tasks or making a Netflix/Facebook rig for Grandma.

Try to get a hold of a used i5 4670K at the very least. Preferably an i7 4770K/4790K.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

I'll be lucky if I can even find a I5 in my area most of the kids here usually build budget builds here

What are you talking about? Still a lot of good CPU's are dual-core. Especially on the Laptop Front. But.... For desktops it might be worth to just look for a Quad-Core chip or more. If budget allows it.

For modern gaming that consists of more than just Fortnite or indies, they are hot garbage.

Hmm, really though? Because I honestly think it depends on what you are playing. Yes. Especially newer/bigger games require some more CPU. But a lot of games let you comfortable play on dual-cores. Budget matters.

Edit: Hell I have even seen some people defending that new Surface Go with the Pentium Gold as been suitable for casual gaming. And that stuff has a quad-core CPU ;). Edit Edit: Yes, IMHO that is the actual hot garbage.

Hence why I said modern gaming. For old games and lighter titles dual core CPUs are okay.

If all OP wants to play are those types of games, the G3258 will be serviceable. But for modern AAA gaming it definitely is not.

Nope. But let's be honest with some of the insane requirements even some very decent I5 CPU's don't cut it.
