Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone can see any potential problems with this build. Here are my parts - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/r7HPQZ.  I am newish to pc building so I have a few questions if you find yourself bored with some spare time to help me out. This is my second computer build and I am upgrading from a system that a friend helped me build 9 years ago. That system is still functioning... sort of. It's slowing down and I am having trouble keeping the GPU temps within a comfortable range. I have been wanting a new build for a long time so I bit the bullet and bought the components. If you see anything that does not make sense or that would work better please let me know and give me your recommendation.

This system is something I have been extremely excited for and I have all of the parts purchased as of last night and they will be here in two days (thank you Amazon prime). I will eventually want more storage. I am not sure if I want to spend $350 USD on another Samsung evo 970 m.2 1tb though. Anyone have a recommendation for another form of storage? I was thinking some sort of high quality mechanical hard drive, preferably 3tb and up.

*EDIT* I am also curious about SLI. As long as I use any 1080 card, will SLI work? Would I get any noticeable performance boost from this or is it mostly bragging rights and enthusiast driven?

I do not know how the corsair controller that is included with the case works but I am sure I can find videos on how to get everything synced up. I was also curious about any safe building tips you can give me.  I ordered a handy dandy Ifixit pro kit to help me with the build, as well as an anti static work mat and a wrist band that goes with it.

I noticed that on the back of my PSU there is a switch that changes it between multi and single rail - why and what should I use?

I know that in the past wireless headsets sacrificed some sound quality for the wireless aspect. I also know this is not as much the case with the technology of headsets in the past couple of years. I know my motherboard has decent sound but since I am using a USB headset it essentially bypasses all of that, correct? Is there any sort of sound-card that I can get that will help with headphones, wired or wireless, and what would you recommend? I also have some nice speakers from my last PC build that I will be using, so if you can recommend a sound card that will make a noticeable difference I would appreciate it.

My case doesn't have a spot for an optical drive. I know most people don't use them anymore but I wouldn't mind having one, call me old school. Are there external optical drives? If so, which one would you recommend that can play blue-ray? :)

Sorry for the novel folks, I appreciate it if you stuck around this long. I finished a beer while writing this and I am sure you will need one after reading it. Cheers!

My 2c

I would say the PSU is overkill. Not a problem, but not as efficient as it could have been. Even with 2 GTX 1080 ti I believe a good 750W would have been enough.

I think the main advantage of multiple rail is having overload protection each rail.

Lets take your GTX 1080 ti. 250W / 12V = 20A

Your individual rails have 40A overload protection. If something goes wrong the overload protection will kick in at 40A draw. With the single rail setup the overload won't kick in until 80A.

Optical drives are horrible noisy dust magnets. External would be ok because you wouldn't have to listen to it spin up all the time.

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

If you have bought all the parts isn't it a little late to be asking about potential problems?

WD Black are good quality hdd.

External optical drives are available, https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=external+optical+drive&ignorear=0&N=-1&isNodeId=1.

You don't need a sound card.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Oh, and just an aside on the X34. It will show up as a generic monitor in hardware manager. I couldn't find anything on ACER site. Here's inf and color profile & manual.

It would be a huge problem if Amazon no longer accepted returns of unopened packages!

I appreciate the advice thank you!  I figured it was overkill but I wanted to do my own custom water-cooling setup in the future and I had no idea how much power that would take so I figured better safe than sorry.

What do you mean by this?

These will read generic monitor without the inf installation. If you end up with 2 generic monitors in your system it's hard to tell which is which.
