New build, old head.

Go to solution Solved by Vegetable,

Uh, the 8700k is ONLY compatible with DDR4 memory. And also, it only does dual channel as well.

I'm finally retiring my machine and going for a new build with the i7 8700k, unsure what mobo i'm going with yet(If anyone has suggestions).

Is it worth getting (32GB) quad channel DDR3 or dual channel DDR4 memory? Does one or the other have any significant performance increases? Mostly for running multiple programs at once, 10+ at times, just would like to know if its worth the extra amount for more performance. Sorry, I've been out of the loop for awhile.

Thanks lads. Cheers.

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.
