I have an EVGA 850w power supply and a gtx 1080 rog strix. The GPU requires a 6 pin and an 8 pin connection using a vga cable. All the cables that I was supplied with have one extra 2 pin connector. The GPU works fine but I would really like to get ride of that extra 2 pin connector. What should I so do. I attached a file of what my GPU looks like with the extra cable.

Don't see why you would think it would come with an actual 6 pin cable. That would increase costs. It goes have the correct cable.

Get custom cables, or cut them and heat shrink the end with some liquid tape or something.

you can get rid of that cable but it is difficult here is how:

otherwise i will suggest you to buy an extension cord from cablemods, hide your double connector behind the case and only use the branded cable

https://cablemod.com/product-category/cable-extensions/8-pin-pcie/

here you can find the 6 pin
