ok so i have a dell optiplex 9020 sff and it has only a single slot space for a graphics card right, now i have 2 options for my gpu 1st one is this a pny quadro p620 apparently it has the same perforamance as a 1050ti low profile and comes well in the constraints of my pc ( i have a 255 watt psu).

My second option is this a gigabyte 1050 low profile now this thing can guaranteed give me great performance but it requires a 300 watt psu and wont fit inside my pc so ill have to use a pcie x16 3.0 riser cable and run it outside my pc.

so which one is the better option

I doubt it will perform similar to a 1050ti, it has 1/2 of its vRAM. Get a GT 1030 and save up for a new PC. The Quadro isn't worth that price.

what about running the gtx 1050 outside my pc (sorry my internet went out so i couldn't finish my full post please  read the new edited one(: )

Maybe rx 560 instead. Slightly more but its better.

like i said it would have to run outside of my pc but will my 255 watt psu be good enough, and is it comparable to a 1050 ?

it is possible to run an external card, you need an extension cord and the PSU cable the only problem is the stability of the card, if you are playing a demanding game and the fans go to full speed it could rumble and fall so you have to think about a stable solution, with the GPU in an open space you will get amazing temps but a lot of noise, I also have to keep your case open or mod it so u can do it but you will get more noise.

Another solution could be to buy an external gpu but it needs a type c connection and it will not perform as good as a pcie gpu

GPU linked is a low profile card. It should fit unless 2 slot card is too wide

It is be comparable to a 1050. Maybe slightly slower, but it has more Vram.

the 1050 has a minimum 300 watt psu and the 560 has a 450 watt minimum so i dont think my psu can handle the 560

i have a 255 watt psu

"Minimum" is very vague. You system wont draw more than 255 watt.

Those estimates also overestimates majorly.

you can use this to know how much does your system draw

Just now, mymande said:

if you want to do it scrapyard war style you can buy another psu and use it only for the gpu but it has to be externally powered

so lets say i get a 1070 hook it up and have it externally plugged with a riser cable and plug the external psu it wont bottelneck?

Dont use PSU calculators. They overestimates quite a lot.

His system will draw max 220 watts under full synthetic load with an RX 560 GPU installed. (Thats assuming he has a Core i7 95watt CPU in his optiplex, when he probably has a 60 watt i5 or similar)

the cable does not bottleneck you can watch linus video about it

but i will suggest a pre-made version like this one that bundles with a psu

this is exactly what i plan to do except with one cable

Still wont draw more than 220 under full synthetic load. Which is not an realistic workload.

Only thing is if the mobo is underspeced, but you should be good
