Hello all, in the future I am planning to build a new gaming pc to replace my garbage FX-4300, GTX 1050. I will most likely use X470 MoBo and a Ryzen 5 2600. I was originally planning to buy a GTX 1060 new, but I am now thinking about if it'd be better to get a used 1070 ti or somthing like that for around $300. Would you guys recommend I just buy a new GPU, or if I can buy it used how should I go about it? Thanks

300 for a used 1070ti would be very surprising

My motto is buy as much used as you can: the components you van buy used are from least risk to most - RAM, Cases, CPUs, GPU's, motherboards (check for broken pins in images or be able to quote them as saying there are none etc.) HDDs, SSDs and NEVER buy a used power supply unless it's off of a friend or as a part of a working system even then consider if you want to use it.

Ok next: if you're buying a fancy motherboard a) make sure it makes some sense in terms of value which it almost never does unless you just want to muck around with overclocking i.e. I would argue not worth it for a ryzen 2700 as intel have the 9000 series imminent and even if  that CPU is still better for what you're using it for I would still wait for price cuts or to be able to use the 9000 series as a bargaining chip to ebay or whatever sellers you run into. & b) unless you there is some weird exception where the maker of the board is sensible (which they rarely are) upgrading from the b450 chipset to x470 until you hit a certain price range are the same motherboards as their b450 equivalents or even have some useless power-phases, bad heatsinks etc. added as seen in this video.

Also over in the U.K. you can get 1080s for around £300 on ebay so I don't find it unreasonable that you can get a 1070ti for $350 but again WAIT for the next gen nVidia cards which are imminent and have been announced in some official capacity and so even if it is just as a bargaining chip, wait.

I bought a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 1070 TI PC for £350 +£15 p&p. It works fine, so I don't see why you can't get one for the same price or cheaper. I personally just wanted a card ASAP so don't care if I payed slightly more. I just got the best deal at the moment I logged on.

Yeah, don't get an X470. The MSI B450 Gaming Carbon is the best b450 you can get and in my and YouTubers opinions, beats the X470 motherboards. The MSI B450 Tomahawk is the best bang for buck motherboard however. Both are stunning.

EVGA ebay store was selling GTX 1080 brand new for $399.99 and 15% off site wide promo made it $340 on 8/8 just wait for 15 or 20% site wide ebay promo and get good deal on card.

GTX 1080Ti was used $430 with the 15% promo should be another one around Labor Day at that time 1080Ti will be low $400 and add promo $300 range.
