The right ssd for my build

Alright, so I am  building a PC for gaming got a ryzen5 1600 and 8gb of ram and a rx560 but I got to the storage and I have a chose between a 500gb m.2 that runs on sata for $100 and a 250gb nvme m.2 for $100 dollars. Now I play a lot of grand strategy games like eu4, ck2 and 4x games like  civ 5,civ 6. I know nvme is faster but I don't know how much of that speed I would be using. Is it worth it to cut storage in half for it.

Not worth. I also play Civ and that's on my Crucial MX500 drive. Last I played Civ 6 with friends, I loaded first lol

M.2 is new to me I may be mistaking but I think this one is running on the sata bus. Please let me know if I am wrong.
