I live in a military town.  A soldier that is about to deploy bought this ram a while ago.  He never got around to installing it.   The ram is New in box and is asking fora  $100?   Do you think this is a safe purchase?  I was reading new egg reviews they seem good besides when they were DOA.   If they are doa can i RMA without the original purchase receipt.

This is the model in question..  https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313771

Maybe I should just buy a different brand online for $50 more.  He does not have his desktop anymore so I can't exactly test it when I go to pick up it.

If you have proof of purchase you should be ok.  Can you install it before he deploys?  That'd be the best way.
