How do integrated graphics work?

When it comes to integrated graphics is that something your CPU provides or Motherboard or both together? I recently though about upgrading my Mobo and CPU soon. And was curious as to what I have to look for if I want integrated graphics as well as a GFX card. I'll be sticking with AMD CPU's, so any suggestions with AMD CPU's that have it would be great. Otherwise if they don't I guess I'll have to go back to intel.

My Current setup I wish to upgrade:
Mobo: ASUS Prime B350M-A/CSM

CPU: AMD Ryzen 1500 X
Ram: 16GB's 4x4 Hyper X Fury DDR4 2400MHz
GFX: GTX 1060 6GB

 

Now the only things I wish to again change are my CPU and Mobo. So any suggestions would be great :]

Integrated graphics are through the processor itself. 

 

Considering you already have a 1060 I wouldnt worry about it at all anyway. Why are you looking to upgrade? That system seems fairly new. Only thing I would really change is the ram and get a higher speed.

it should be said that it didn;t always work like that

It used to be that the board itself had it's own graphics chip , but more recently they now just add the graphics chip onto the cpu itself.

But even before that in the late 1970's the cpu would run the graphics of the machine before they started using dedicated graphics chips , so we've basically come full circle

so it's kind of either or depending on what your getting so you'd have to really see what the details say?

yes , always look at the specs

a lot of boards and cpus also have NO graphics. you can very easily have a board and cpu combination that requires a seperate gpu. computers come in all sorts of sizes and flavors so yes look at specs.

why would you need integrated graphics if you have an dedicated gpu, igpus are only useful if you don't have one other wise they just waste ram

1 as a back up but mostly for me it's cause I'm curretnly having a video issue. Where it's only fix seems to be having support for integrated graphics that I don't have. Because apparently the software I use is known to have issues when using dedicated graphics.

I honestly want to upgrade for myself personally to. But the issue is whenever you try to record windows it shows up as a black screen unless it's the whole display. But the only fix known to change this is to switch your recording  to integrated and not dedicated. Cause for whatever reason they have a problem with dedicated graphics. AlsoI just realized the anime your pic is from. That anime is baller

what software are you using to record the screen?

ok well that's an issue for the software you're using not the hardware. try something like bandicam maybe which just windows around anything on the screen that you want.
