Upgrading current setup, thoughts and tips?

I've had the thought the last few months to upgrade my current system, or at least partly so games run more smooth as it seems to be lacking a bit

Currently;

i7-2600k OC to 4.2ghz (Noctua NH-D9L cooler)

16gb RAM (bit unsure which atm)

Maximus IV Extreme-Z mobo

GTX 1060 ROG strix OC 6gb

Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD

Seagate® Desktop SSHD 1TB

PSU 550Wats (It's a bit hidden in my R6 fractial case, so dont remember the brand)

Monitor: AOC G2460PG

The reason I'm looking to upgrade is since my main games; WoW, Fortnite, PoE etc are getting low FPS in the situations that matter and I've been toying with the idea to stream. I've also looked a bit into what to change, and if I want a better CPU, I need a new mobo anyways since the one I have doesnt support anything newer than 2nd gen. Supposedly, by all the PSU calculators out there I dont need to upgrade this, and upgrading my GTX 1060 is also not needed.

I've also heard/seen that if you want to stream and game people recommend a Ryzen, thoughts on this?

By the description of the NOCTUA cooler, I should also be able to use on any of the newer generations.

(Living in Norway, btw)

The setup I've been looking at;

i7-8700K - 389$ @ komplett.no

MSI Z370-A Pro, Socket-1151 - 136$ @ komplett.no

Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666MHz 16GB - 238$ @ komplett.no

Samsung 970 EVO 500GB PCIe M.2 SSD - 214$

Total = 977$

really good cpu but maybe if you're thinking about streaming go with the 2700x from AMD.

it has more cores for tasks like that and it is better for video editing
