Hi, I would like to upgrade my pc but don't know what qualifies as acceptable. I would like to save money by upgrading my CPU to a 2600k and keep my setup until absolute necessary. I was thinking that 3GB will still be enough Vram for 21:9 1080 and that a 2600k would be enough to support my 1060 3GB while not oc it. I game and really dont care about fps unless its under 60

Plans:

CPU: 2600k

Monitor: either the LG 34UM69G-B 34" or the Acer CB351C 35" , I need help deciding

Case: define c mini?

 

PC:

CPU:3470s

GPU: 1060 3GB

MOBO: Z68 1155 (bad cooling,cant oc cpu)

RAM: 4x4GB 1600Mhz DDR3

SSD: 250GB

HDD: 1TB+500GB

CASE: FS-80660

PSU: EVGA 750W bronze

Monitor: XF240H 1080p 144hz TN

What will you play with it?

i grew up with 30-40fps so i am comfortable in the 60s

look into Xeon E3/E3 v2 instead, since you still cant overclock the CPU anyway

expect dropping texture settings, possibly lower 3GB is just fine for 16:9 1080p, 21:9 1080p is pushing it a bit too hard.

to me, they are too big for the resolution and could cause grainy image. I'm more sensitive to pixel dentisy than others though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

data compression did improve over time, but not 25% better. 4GB without better data compression on Pascal is about the limit point for 16:9 1080p already

sorry to drag this on but, with my current plans what would you suggest monitor wise? My 24" 1080 is too small for me.

 

maybe just get a 29" ultra wide instead: LG 29UM60-P?
