First off the issue. My sound suddenly got really wonky last night for no reasion, i wasnt even touching the pc when it happened. The sound can be really tinny or flat or just missing/garbled, after a while of fiddling i found that if i went into the sound settings and turned ether the left or right balance all the way off, it sort of fixes it were i can hear sounds properly however that is only half the issue. With the right balance at 0 and left at 100% i should only be able to hear out of the left side, but that's not the case, i can hear out of both sides pretty evenly. But if i go into a game that has side sensitive sounds, i cant hear any right sounds but i can still hear all the left sounds out both headphones.

Hardware invloved- Motherboard: Asus Maximus IX Hero    Sound Card: Asus xonar phoebus and on board realteak    Headphones: a few cheap pairs

I have tried uninstalling and deleting drivers and reinstalling drivers. I tried sfc /scannow for windows.  Using both my phoebus sound card, and trying onboard sound, with multiple pairs of headphones and the issue is the same across all of it. And yes i have tried turning the computer off and on again.

Any thoughts on the issue, is it windows? Motherboard? Something else?

Update: Tried setting up sound to go thru gpu(GeForce GTX 1080) /monitor([dell s2716dg with headphones]& [SyncMaster P2770HD without headphones), same issue..thinking mabe reinstalling windows but would like to try avoiding that if possible

I have gone thru all the realtek settings, and this did start before i even installed realteak, i had the on bored audio disable till i thought it was maybe just the sound card and tried using it. And it happens with just default windows audio drivers. I do have a usb microphone but it is nowhere near me or headset.. well its atleast a foot or 2 away.

Just in case unplug it cause it could be a feed back loop.Does this happen on all your headphones and on all the audio outputs?
