Laptop GPU Thermal Paste

So I opened a laptop in order to replace thermal paste/clean out the dust and I saw that dedicated GPU had no thermal paste but instead this metal-like thing, underwhich it seems to have thermal paste.
I understand it could be like a thermal pad, but what about the thermal paste under it? Should I remove it and then somehow put it together?

I think you took off the gpu's ihs, you can see the nvidia branding (i don't know if that is possible), you can just replace the thermal paste and then put it back altogether.

gpus in laptops dont have ihs afaik

i think they put that there because the gpu die was too low for heatsink to make proper contact, i could be wrong tho
