Put the SSD in the PC, then when you install windows put it on the SSD (you can even pull the hard drive out when you install windows to make sure you get the right one).

Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen R7 3700X @4.4Ghz, GPU: Gigabyte RX 5700 XT, RAM: 32 GB (2x 8GB Trident Z Royal + 2x 8GB TForce Vulkan Z) @3000Mhz, Motherboard: ASRock B550m Steel Legend, Storage: 1x WD Black 1Tb NVMe (boot) + 1x Samsung 860 QVO 1Tb SSD (storage), Case: Thermaltake Core V21, Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

There are multiple approaches for this task although I would recommend basically cloning (moving) the partition on your hard drive for the OS to the SSD and that way only have files and programs on the HDD and the OS on the solid state drive, you can also add other commonly used files to the SSD which would increase how quickly they would be able to launch and load.

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,

Thanks for the advice guys but how would i actually go about doing that

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 has the tool for making installation media, download it and get a USB drive you're not using (at least 8 Gb) and follow the instructions on the section that says "Use the tool to create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) to install Windows 10 on a different PC"
