ASUS GL553VD laptop turns on but black screen

Basically, I panicked when I saw some ASUS motherboard BIOS screen and turned the laptop off.

Now the laptop turns on but the screen never turns on.

Laptop is ASUS GL553VD.

Any suggestions?

close screen , pull out the battery , leave it for a few minutes , then put battery back in , open the screen , turn it on , let it start up.

see if that works

hmm well that sucks. lol

I'm only making a guess here , but it sounds like the laptop might be stuck in limbo with the "close lid/standby" settings. As in the lid or power button put it in standby and now it wont come out of standby

when you open it does it turn on automatically?

No it doesn't. Only turns on when I press the power button.

there anything else you did? like did you hit or drop the pc or did you restart it after updating something?

In every respect there no reason the screen shouldn't turn on.

one thing you could try since the battery isn't removable is to turn the pc on unplugged , then just let the battery run itself down to 0% and shut itself off. then keep turning it on till the battery is too low to turn on anymore. then plug it in and try starting normally.

Had to restart for some ASUS firmware, yeah will try that and see what happens.

did the firmware install? because if you turned the machine off while it was installing firmware then that would definitely explain whats wrong as you may have effectively bricked the machine.

I don't know if it was installing anything, but that could be a possibility.

Buddy sometimes this issue happens when a ram chip is loose have a look and see if any of the ram slots are dirty or misplaced .. just don't clean your ram chips with something rough
