Hi folks -

I'm in the initial planning stages of a new build, and since it's been around 5-6 years since I've done one, I'm not currently up on latest trends, value for price comparisons, cpu/mb combos.    I had a 3930K that appears to have given up the ghost.    I've got a 980Ti that is still perfectly functional, but more than likely going to sell it off to trade up.   I've got 3 30" monitors, but am considering dropping down to 2, to free up some desk space.

Use case,  I'm a fairly heavy gamer, with side trips into architectural rendering.  I'm wanting to increase my exposure into water cooling, so any advice given I would like to include that, integrated 10G would be great to have, so I wouldn't have to take up a card slot.

I was initially thinking about a delidded i7-8700K, as I'm concerned about the thermal issues that are being reported.  I thought also about a Ryzen 2950X, but I realistically don't think I would take advantage of all the cores.

I'd like to incorporate some NVME drive(s).  Local storage isn't that big of a deal, as I've got a various file servers to handle that side of things.

I'm also on the fence regarding multi-gpu, that might be something for the future.

I'm essentially going for the fastest/future proofed beast I can get for the next 4-6 years.

Budget wise, thinking around 2400-3000 for case, CPU, MB, RAM, water cooling, NVME, and potentially GPU, depending.

Thanks for any guidance you folks can provide,
