Hi everyone!

I had a general question, that's pretty vague but wanted people's opinion on. I've heard people swear by portrait monitors saying that there's less bezels from monitor to monitor while other people say that landscape has a better fov. I'm a software engineer and I find that portrait monitors help me with such things as cmd windows and just programming in general, while it also helps just browsing websites. But I can see the argument for landscape monitors too.

The overall question is, what orientation is better for your monitor? Landscape or portrait?

This is pretty much preference. Sure, landscape does have a wider Field of View, but portrait may be easier for reading and using the command line. As I said before, it's just preference.

Portrait is great for displaying many lines of text but the same can be achieved with higher resolution displays. I'm currently using a 1440p ultrawide LG 34UM95 which has enough height for most things but I do miss having a portrait display at the side. I removed it for more desk space but I do plan to add one back later down the road. Unless you want nice large landscape displays at the side for videos, portrait makes more sense for additional productivity displays.
