A little back story,

I bought a used PC since my OEM Hp wasn'r compatible with aftermarket parts I got for it. (Learned the hard way).

In short, I got a PC that I thought at the time was fairly decent for a budget pc for future upgrades. I have since upgraded some parts due to huge heat spikes.

The Specs are as follows.

Asus M5a99x EVO v1

AMD Fx-6100

8GB of DDR3 Ram (Patriot Brand)

EVGA 450 BT (upgraded from the almost dead Thermaltake 450)

AMD Stock cooler

120 GB SSD and 1Tb HDD

Versa h22 Case (Upgraded from a Thermaltake case)

3 case fans (Included w the H22)

 So now comes my question...

What should I upgrade with this build?

I've learned about some part compatibility with this build but I'm debating on what would be the best thing at the moment.

I'm obviously upgrading the stock cooler but unsure what to really upgrade it to that is the Hyper 212/ Evo since those don't fit in this case.

I've been thinking of swapping the GPU but I think I would also have to upgrade the CPU right?

I've also thought of upgrading pretty much the MOBO, CPU and RAM combo to something else.

Basically, i'm clueless when it comes to deciding on what to do with this.

I like this PC, I can game with anything I usually game with. However, I know this day in age newer cpus tend to do better.

I just want to hear suggestions on what to do with this build and if it's worth swapping more parts or build something (better?).

I'm very new to this kind of stuff and have done a lot of looking around but I feel like i'm just not informed enough.

So I turn to the community for help. Thanks!

Hi,

That really depends on what you usually play and what are your standards.

In any case, I don't think you can go much further with this build while it will still be worth it. Other people would probably know but in my opinion, build something else and newer. RAM, mobo, CPU and GPU while of course keeping the rest of the parts if you want.

Your current CPU, Motherboard, and ram are all dead ends.

Your best bet would be to upgrade to a Ryzen 2400G (its the APU so it has a GPU chip build inside, saving you a bit of money) B450 board, and 8-16 GB of 3000 Mhz DDR4. That would be a decent start.
