So my friend just finished building his pc,but it wasnt posting,he later realised that he didnt connect the gpu with the monitor(genius)but also, that the gtx 1050 doesnt have a vga input.

His monitor has a VGA and DVI input.

So he decided to buy an HDMI Input to DVI Output Adapter, but I heard that there might be some compatabilty issues, will it work ?

Any help appreciated.

HDMI and DVI are basically the same connector in different form factors (as well as HDMI having sound)

I use an hdmi into pc, dvi out to monitor in my secondary PC and it works fine.

This is the same cable I use in fact.

This used to be a signature with a bunch of specs, but they're outaded.
