144 hz DVI problem

Uhm. I have the GN247HLB, it runs 144 hz, but only supports VGA and DVI-I. I think my graphics card has dvi-d. Wtd?

DVI-I supports either DVI-D or DVI-A, all you really need to do is find a cable that'll work with your card and the monitor.

You can plug DVI-D in to DVI-I.

 

Though DVI-D is odd to find on a monitor. Are you sure it's not DVI-D on the monitor? If the monitor has a DVI-D input, then a DVI-I connector on the cable won't plug into it.

They didn't have a good image, but I found one at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-GN246HLB-24-inch-Monitor-panel/dp/B00IG0Z0HY, and that's a DVI-D port. So you'll need a DVI-D to DVI-D cable.

So, im currently on vacation, so i cant check it, but the official acer side says DVI-in, and is that not DVI-I?

No. It just literally means a DVI input.

And the monitor was followed up by a DVI cable. So your saying that its the DVI-D?

If you are connecting two DVI devices together, a standard Dual-Link DVI-D cable will work between any two DVI ports and will allow their maximum capability. It doesn't matter what types of DVI ports they are, whether they are DVI-D, DVI-I, Single-Link, or Dual-Link ports. For a DVI-to-DVI connection, use a Dual-Link DVI-D cable.

The monitor should come with a Dual-Link DVI-D cable, which is what you need, so just use that.
