New Windows Laptop using intel integrated graphics instead of Nvidia gtx 1060

Hi all,

 

So I just got a new Windows laptop, the Dell G7. I got it mainly for gaming and video editing. I started up Fortnite and noticed that it was only running at 30 frames per second, with the settings pretty low. After doing some research, I realized that it was probably because the laptop was using the Intel HD Integrated graphics instead of the GTX 1060. I went into the NVIDIA control panel, Manage 3D Settings, Global Settings, Preferred Graphics, and chose NVIDIA High Performance Processor. I then went into Fortnite, and on all epic settings it ran at 60+ FPS. This worked for about a day, until today it started using the Intel Integrated Graphics in games again. NVIDIA High Performance Processor is still selected, and no matter how many things I try, nothing works. 

If anyone knows how to fix this, please tell me!

Did you force shutdown your pc (holding power button) after making changes to your GPU settings?

I tried restarting it and shutting it down... no success.

I had the same issue and I honestly could only fix it if I was plugged in and disabled the intel graphics or plugged into an external display
