NZXT CAM overlay doesn't work

I've been using the NZXT CAM software lately because of its great overlay. As of late, however, the overlay does not function at all. Its permanently disabled from what I can tell. Whenever I reboot my PC or restart the software, it looks enabled, but when I launch a game, the overlay does not appear and I cannot open it manually. Then after closing the game and looking in CAM, it is disabled and all options are deselected. When I attempt to enable the features they don't seem to be set until I move to the next feature. I also cannot select the "Apply" button, it doesn't do anything. Google searches don't yield results relating to my problem, google only has "some games work, some don't" and they're all from last year. Any ideas?
