Hey,

So, I have just got my Y530, and was told to try Undervolting, Everything has been fine and ive got it to -140mV on both the core / cache, and has droped 5/10c depedning on the core, But would like to see if I could go lower.

But how do I test to see if it still reaches max turbo clock speeds?

Could I run cinebench with task manager open to see if it reaches the max turbo clock?

Its a i7-8750h.

I dont really want to download a ton of programs to see the clock speeds in games, But I can say ive played Overwatch / PubG / Fortnite all fine, with the current undervolt

Thanks for the help :)

Yea!
I have HWmonitor already, Im guessing just look at the Core clocks on that? and see what it maxes too.

Yeah, just run cinebench for a quick check of how high the clocks go.

If you want to a stability test, download a 30 day trail of AIDA 64 and run a stress test with that.

Sweet thanks!

Yea idk.. But sounds weird, or ignorant, But I hate running stress tests, Idk, Shit just spooks me, I know it really wouldn't harm anything but idk..

I was told Cinebench + a 1080p video in the background works fine too.

Plus the laptop still gets toasty even with a -140mV undervolt on it.

Well, that's a thin laptop for ya.

If you really care that much about the heat, you can undervolt it more, but it won't get much turbo, if any, if that's okay with you.

Have you used ThottleStop before?

I'm pertty new with it, But there is a disable turbo button.

Like in school I dont really need it turboing, I mainly bought the laptop bc I got a good deal on it, and it has alot more longevity then an older laptop.

But yea idk

I haven't, but that seems like a cool software. You can also turn turbo off in BIOS as well, if that software is finicky and whatnot.

You could max out the voltage again and just use that and get a cooling pad for your laptop at home/gaming meetup thingy.

I would recommend XTU from intel. It has build in stress test (a bit poor but okayish) and very nice and simple interface. It also shows if cpu is thermal or power throttling. You can see basically everything there. Power consumption, clocks(even in graphs if you prefer that). You can undervolt directly in this app and it will keep the settings until the pc crashes.

I was told XTU is horrible compared to Thottlestop, Even more so that you have to open the program and undrvolt it each time you turn on your computer, Is this not true?

and there seems to be plenty more options on Thottlestop then there is XTU

I dont wanna laucnh the program every time I turn on my laptop.
