Hello! I recently bought a prebuilt PC from ironside called the ironside grunt advanced, i was happy with the computer but felt there was more to be desired, so i started saving up for a new proccesor because i have a 1050 but an intel pentium proccesor so i figure it was time to upgrade. But with the motherboard i currently have i cant put the proccesor on it so i need a new motherboard to put an i7 8700k on and so i was going to ask, what is a good budget mother board good for overclocking, should i get a new cpu cooler and remove the standard intel heat sync and if so what cooler, should i get more case fans? Should i get more ram? I only have 4 gigs, i have a budget of about 670 usd to upgrade this thing, what are my best options? If anyone could inlighten me right now that would be fantastic, Thanks!

Is that the system you have?
You're in luck since it uses standard ATX motherboard and mid ATX case. This means you can easily swap out the motherboard for a new one.

There's not much point pairing a 8700k with a GTX 1050. Go with maybe an i3, or at most something like an i5 8400 or i5 8600 if you are doing CPU intensive tasks.

Alternatively since you're swapping the CPU + mobo anyway, you can get an AMD build for a bit less which will give you enough room in the budget to upgrade the GPU as well to a 1060 6GB.

You should also consider adding an SSD for the boot drive. If you go with the intel build and keep the 1050, you will have plenty of room in the budget for an SSD. If you go the AMD + GTX 1060 route, sell your 1050 and use the cash from selling that to buy an SSD.

Hello! Thank you all for the recomendations, I was thinking an i7 8700k because i edit 4k video, which is an incredibly hard task for my old laptop that had an older generation i7, i figured i would upgrade the i7 now then upgrade gpu later. I am not the biggest fan of AMD, but willing to try it again, thoughts?
