Yea, there's a click.

What're the odds we got two dead CPUs and/or Mobos in a row, though?

You’re using a 7th gen cpu with an 8th gen motherboard and intel does not like that one bit

Testing Video (Streamable)

As you can see from the video, this is a fresh build (without gpu, os, or anything). Within a second of being turned on, it immediately turns off. However, when the CPU power cables are unplugged, it seems to power on just fine.

Specs:

  • i5 7600k (LGA 1151)
  • EVGA 650 G3
  • MSI Z370 Gaming Plus
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 3000MHz

What we've tried:

  • Replaced Motherboard
  • Replaced CPU
  • Replaced RAM
  • Replaced PSU/Cables
  • Replaced CPU Cooler
  • Swapped Power Outlets
  • Shorting power pins to avoid possible broken button
  • Reseated CPU (and checked for bent pins)
  • Reseated RAM

Disclaimer: I did not participate in the building, nor testing process of this rig - I'm simply helping troubleshoot.

Do the fans spin up and then stop?

Is there a click from the PSU? If so, then you have a dead CPU and/or motherboard.

Have you tried booting the system with nothing plugged into any of the I/O ports except the power cable?

EDIT: Sorry didn't watch the video

Meaning they're just preventing it from booting, or the CPU(s) are fried?

I don’t think it’s either of those but the cpu should be fine (I think)

I'll check back once we've ordered new components and tried it.
