Can't decide Intel VS AMD

So i've gotten a couple of builds from some of you here on the forums. However I am still having trouble deciding Intel vs AMD. I am looking for Escape from Tarkov, Battlefield 5, fallout 76 and hunt showdown type of games. I know the GPU will be the deciding factor and that an Nvidia would be best. I am having trouble deciding between CPU's because AMD's chipset will be supported until 2020 and if i want to go upgrade then I will not have to switch motherboards. If i go intel I may have to switch motherboards if i upgrade to different CPU.

mainly for gaming, some homework ( i am still in college), I stream alot of netflix, hulu movies and tv shows.

To be honest I have an intel gaming build now from around 2011. I built it for battlefield 3. However, upgrading has become a bit of a hassle, i feel the intel's need more complete new builds if you avoid upgrading for awhile. While the AMD's you wont need a new motherboard like i said above. Basically I am looking for performance for games i said above while making it as easy for me to upgrade as possible in the future without making a whole new PC.

Intel Coffee Lake for high refresh rate gaming, otherwise Ryzen. Do you need 144fps+ and have the budget for a graphics card that can do that though?

AMD cuz it’s budget friendly and the average person won’t really care the FPS differences and whatnot. Also more cores and threads so futureproof(ish)? xD

144fps+ would be nice but the games I play that are pretty high end like hunt showdown and escape from tarkov i know i wont get that kind of FPS.

Also, i'd be willing to go to cheaper CPU (like Ryzen) to save up for a better graphics card. I have no problem paying money for a 1080. Afterall, from what i have heard games are more GPU intensive now.

That would depend also on the resolution that you play.

Either will give you a good gaming experience. If you plan on doing anything besides gaming such as editing or twitch etc then I would go with an 8 core Ryzen. There are new cpu's coming from Intel though (Supposedly Aug) so maybe wait and see what happens. Pricing could be affected on current CoffeeLake and even Ryzen if they want to gouge Intels eyes out even more :D

Also, there is a store near me called microcenter. Very popular and they have good prices. Anyway they have CPU and motherboard bundles.

They have a 8700k and numerous Z370 motherboards bundled together for around $400.

They also have AMD ryzen 2700x with x470 motherboards for same price range.

i would go with the 8700K any day of the week personally...especially for a gaming PC.

I guess it depends on what boards they are offering. For the 8700K you would want a good Z370 such as the ASRock Extreme 4, Asus Prime-A and Gigabyte Gaming 5 etc. Same goes for Ryzen as you don't want a board with crappy vrm's if you want to overclock etc with an 8 core cpu.

If you are not in a rush then hang fire a coupe of weeks and see if Z390 gets officially announced.

Same price? Well Ryzen just lost it's main advantage didnt it? As long as you arent a streamer (i.e. recording and uploading to sites like Twitch) the Ryzen 7's extra core count isnt all that useful.

Then what motherboards do they bundle with? I'd steer clear from boards unsuitable for these flagship CPUs, like Gigabyte Z370 D3H, Asus Z370-P, The TUF boards etc.

since you said the boards are unsuitable then all thats left now is the MSI gaming PLus motherboard with the i7 8700k for $389

how about boards for 2700x? That crosshair 7 is really eyecatching. If it does add up to $400, then microcenter is giving you a massive discount (2700X cost $320, C7H cost $250)

aww dang. too bad none of the Z370 boards are any good for an 8700k. They are better for 8350ks.

those are the other intel models. like the i5 8400. Id like to stick to the 8600k or i7 8700k if it is worth it on the intel side, if intel you think is best.

Like i said the amd AM4 chipset is gonna be supported until 2020.
