So i just build a new computer (its so great!) but i got onto setting everything up and plugged everything in and i cannot get my mic to work. the sound comes through but the inline mic wont even register. i have tried all the different ports ( single 3.5mm audio ports.) and none will register a mic. so i tested it on my old computer and it works like a charm. also none of my other headphones will recognize anything. I've updated windows and all of the drivers, still nothing so im not sure what to do. I am under the impression that the green audio port should be the correct port to use yes? should i be using an adapter to get input and output separate? please help I'm stuck!

 

also computer is an I5 3470 with a GTX 1050.

If you're using a headset or something with one 3.5mm connector you'll need to get a splitter, the green port is for audio output and the pink port is for mic input:
